INAB Laboratory Accreditation Info

The Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) is the national body with responsibility for the accreditation of laboratories, certification bodies and inspection bodies and it provides accreditation in accordance with the relevant International Organisation for Standardisation ISO 17000 series of standards and guides. In the UK, the equivalent body is known as UKAS – United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

Both organisations have signed up to EA Multilateral Agreement (EA MLA) which is a signed agreement between the EA Full Members. This means the signatories recognise and accept the equivalence of the accreditation systems operated by the members. The reliability of the conformity assessment results provided by conformity assessment bodies accredited by the signing members are also recognised as being equivalent. This multi-lateral agreement is recognised at international level by ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation).

In other words accredited results from either body are readily accepted by the other one.
