Responsibilites
Requirements
Training /Coaching
Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements including PPE usage.
Evaluate employee competency levels to identify any skills gap.
Develop a detailed training programme to address the skills gap in employees with clear objectives for the training.
Evaluate the outcome of training with trainees.
Maintain an up-to-date accurate record of the trainees’ progress and achievements.
Assist in the development of on-line training records and training recording system
Training personnel in all areas of laboratory skills and techniques to meet required/specified standards.
Formal hands-on training on how to complete a procedure to the standard required and respond to any questions or queries they may have.
Trainee demonstrates their competence in the skills required to achieve the standards.
Spiking of micro samples and competency assessments through blind sample assessments.
Competence assessed against known samples.
Develop a competency matrix to identify skill levels of trainees and agree plan of action to achieve the standard required.
Continuous monitoring of employees’ skills on an on-going basis to maintain the competency levels required.
Ensure lab supervisors and managers are fully aware of the training schedules for employees.
Provide lab managers and supervisors with feedback on progress of each trainee on a regular basis.
Communicate with trainees and lab managers/supervisors on any skills issues to be addressed in a timely manner.
Be proactive with lab managers/supervisors on reviewing and adjusting training requirements.
Coaching - Experience led advice, direction, imparting of knowledge to build confidence and encourage development in people.
Awareness information & hold toolbox sessions to maintain and improve skills levels.
Auditing
Management of all auditing schedules
Completion of audits on a risk basis
High risk more frequent / low risk less frequent
Set up of internal blind testing and assessments
Proof that the training and coaching systems work
Draw up/agree/implement training actions to address non-conformances from audit findings.
Develop a risk profiling system – rating areas based on risk arising from:
Experience of key personnel
Training of personnel
Incidents of non-conformances
PT data
Customer queries and complaints
Verified non-conformances
Volume of work increases or decreases – measured and verifiable
Qualifications, Skills and abilities Required:
Bachelors / Master’s degree in microbiology with 3 years’ experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory environment.
Thorough understanding of the business.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Good patience to work with trainees at their own pace.
Good coaching and team development skills
Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills to conduct training.
Excellent presentation skills to present and handle training programmes effectively.
Very good administration skills to manage training content and maintain records.
Strong attention to detail.
Familiar with using the Microsoft suite – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Have a good coaching style.
Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Experience in conducting internal audits.
Fluent in English both verbal and written.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland.
Working hours Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm (37.5-hour week).
