Trichloromethane in milk, cream and butter
Fitz Scientific is introducing a newly validated method for Trichloromethane detection in milk, cream and butter. This development represents a significant increase of our food contaminant testing services.
An in-house validation has been completed using headspace gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, enabling reliable quantification across a testing range of 0.0004 to 0.0488mg/kg. This capability ensures compliance with relevant EU drinking, surface and groundwater regulatory requirements.
Although there is currently no formal legislation governing trichloromethane levels in dairy products, industry guidelines recommend target limits of 0.00124 mg/kg in milk and 0.024 mg/kg in butter.
